I have a Raspberry Pi4 Model B, Rev 1.2, 4 cores
Running Rasbian/Debian Linux 12
Linux 6.1.77-v8+
My mini development server connects to my mobile phones hotspot feature and it works fine connecting to the outside world.
However, I have a second USB WiFi antenna connected to the Pi4, that I'm trying to connect to using my Ubuntu 23.10 Laptop.
My laptop has no problem connecting to my phone and through the phone to the Pi4, however the phones hotspot IP is often changing.
This is why I am using a second WiFi interface on my Pi4, so I might configure it with a fixed IP for my laptop to connect to. Effectively using the Pi4 as a kind of proxy.
The USB antenna attached to the Pi4 is a Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 802.11ac NIC chipset RTL8811CU_for_Raspbian-5.8.7
This I had to compile into the kernel myself.
I setup a hotspot using the new NetworkManager application via the Raspberry GUI and everything seemed fine.
I can even connect to the new hotspot SSID using athe apropriate password.
However the problem is, my laptop/client isnt pulling a dhcp ip4 from the Pi4 hotspot?
I'm not sure how this new NetworkManagers dhcpd works?
I used to be able to setup this dual WiFi configuration, just fine on earlier RaspiOS's.
Please can anyone help?![Smile :-)]()
